Of all my assignments this quarter, this has been my favorite. In elementary school, I was part of a program called Young Authors where some of my stories got turned into physical copies, met authors, and went to universities to participate in workshops. For a long time, I thought I wanted to be an author (something that I'm still interested in and could happen one day!). This assignment reminded me of how much fun I used to have mulling over ideas, or creating poems to use in my books. If you're interested in reading my short story, which I entitled 'The City' click the picture below!
I think that eBooks as a learning tool in the classroom is such a fantastic idea and using sites like Storybird make it so simple, that it can be accessible for any student. It's a great way for students to be expressive and creative with themselves, and it's exciting to share your work with your classmates. The way I did a "lesson plan" for this story was by having students then write their own books about the weather.
